Week 2 Soldier Joy
The song I chose was soldier joy. I love the feel of this song when I listen to it. It has such an upbeat tune to it. I think the target audience could be something to dance to. It is so lively and makes me tap my foot to it. Something that surprised me was how the song is very similar to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” it has some of the same lyrics as Soldier Joy. It also has the fiddles which I love I think it adds something to the song. The fiddle and the first section of the song is my favorite is because it has such a catchy tune with the fiddle and the words go well with the beat and how they are singing them. It has a strong beat that is easy to follow. My least favorite part of the song is the lyrics themselves. With the music it is very happy and a joyful song but when you listen and think about what the lyrics are saying it's sad. Something I also found very interesting was that song verses don’t have anything do with the one before. It’s just lots of different random parts thrown together. I think it works though I really enjoyed listening to this song
.
I agree, it is such a peppy and fun song! It is kind of odd that the verses don't have much to do with their previous verse, but to me, it still felt like they were building up different parts of a story that still fit together aesthetically, so I feel like it worked out nicely.
ReplyDeleteI love the song Devil Went Down to Georgia. I had never considered Soldier Joy sounding like that but after reading this post I completely agree! I feel like fiddles have a very distinct nostalgia that comes with them when played in a song. I think it's so interesting how this song is so upbeat but has sad lyrics.
