Week 10:What's Love Got to Do With It

What's Love Got to Do With It is performed by Tina Turner. Who vocally does really great in this song to me personally. I think she has a raspy voice that add to the meaning and tone of the song. The song itself is kind of sad I would say. Some of the lyrics say "who needs a heart when a heart can be broken". It sounds to mean that her heart was broken and she didn't want to be in that committed relationship.  I found it interesting she was 44 years old when the song was released in 1984. I love the rock and R&B soul this song has. Her look in the covers and music video are clearly set in the 80s which is a whole look. Synth pop and music are used in this song in the drums and a harmonica which I thought was interesting. The music puts off the 80s style and after some reading it's the synth-pop.  I really liked this song and the beat of it. I think 80s music is awesome as well as this song! What's Love Got to Do with It (song) - Wikipedia

  1. I totally agree with you! I did this song as well and our posts are pretty similar. I said that this song gives such 80s vibes and I love it haha. I also talked about her raspy voice. I don't usually like songs where singers voices are really raspy, but this one works. I like how you said it adds to the tone but also to the meaning, that's so true. Also the lyrics are kind of sad, but I love the message she shares.

  2. This song was surprising to me when I heard it in class. Her raspy voice is different from the voices that we have heard in the songs leading up to this one. Its funny because you mention how its interesting that she was 44. Its not and age that is too old but is a bit older than the people we've been listening to.
