Week 7 Respect

 The song I chose is Respect by Aretha Franklin. I think everyone knows this song, because it is a straight vibe. Aretha has such a powerful voice. She is the perfect person to be the vocalist for this song. The beat of the song is great. It is a fun tempo with a strong beat. In this song she is asking the guy she is going to marry to show her some respect. She is going to give her money to him, but in return she wants respect/ to be treated good. In the last line of the song it says that if he doesn't treat her the way she thinks she ought to be treated he might come home one day and she'll be gone. I think that the back up singers lyrics really make this song. I also found it very interesting that it is Aretha sisters Carolyn, and Erma are the ones singing it I love that. My favorite part of this song is where she spells out R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Every time I go to write respect I have to sing this song.  This song falls into the category genre of R&B and is Aretha signature song. She was the queen of soul. One thing I love about Aretha Franklin was her clothes and style. This song is so catchy and easy to sing along with which makes it great.
